Last Updated 21 November 2009, 19:19 IST

Speaking at Kochi, the DGP said he was not in a position to reveal further as it was up to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to investigate and find out more about Rana.

The state police had handed over whatever information they had gathered on Rana to the NIA and Intelligence agencies. As reported, it had been found that Rana and his wife stayed at the Gateway Hotel (formerly Taj Residency) on November 16 -17 lasty year.

The duo was out of the hotel for about six hours during which time they went for a boat cruise in the Kochi backwaters in a private boat instead of using the hotel’s boat service. Police believe he clicked pictures of various strategic locations in the city.  Punnoose said contrary to news reports, it had been found that Headley had not visited Kerala.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has called a high-level meeting of various state agencies on November 28 to discuss steps to increase the security of Kochi. He said the presence of various strategic installations in Kochi had made the city a target. The state government was strengthening coastal security as part of this realisation.
