Yegon, Gladys victorious

 Kenya’s and Daniel Yegon and Gladys Tarus emerged victorious in the men’s and women’s sections respectively in the seventh edition of the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon

.

In a closely-fought men’s race, Yegon powered his way to the gold with a timing of two hours 11 minutes and 52 seconds. Ethiopia’s Ebesa Merga Ejgu came second with a timing of 2 hours and 15 minutes while Daniel crossed the line in third spot after clocking 2:27.00.

In the women’s category, Gladys completed a fine victory. She came home in 2:59.44 while Ethiopia’s Chaltu Niguse Shiferaw took second place with Lorna Chenangat of Kenya signed off third. Tripurari Singh of MEG & Centre, Bangalore, won the Indian section full marathon with a timing of 2 hours 25 minutes and 35 seconds with PC Poovanna, also from MEG, bagging silver (2:37.21). Pune’s Vishal Shilimkar was third.
Sudha Mani bagged the top honours in the women’s marathon (Indian category), ahead of runner-up Bhagwati.
