JD(S) leader H D Revanna on Monday urged the State government to send a report to the Centre on the State's drought situation, seeking adequate financial assistance to cope with it.

Speaking to reporters, he alleged that though several parts of the State are witnessing severe dry condition, the State government has not taken steps to declare them drought-affected.

Alleging that the government has politicised the issue, he said only those places represented by the Congress MLAs are being declared drought-hit and others are ignored.

He said the government should prevail upon the Centre to immediately send a team to inspect the drought-affected places in the State. The government should ensure supply of water and fodder in several drought-hit taluks that are facing acute drinking water crisis, he said.
