<p>A software engineer and a State government employee were killed in separate road accidents in the City on Friday morning.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Vinayaka Namdev Patanakar (23), a software engineer with a firm near HAL, succumbed to injuries he sustained when a speeding water tanker rammed the bike he was riding. <br /><br />The accident occurred as Patanakar suddenly applied the brake near a road hump at Kundalahalli junction. The tanker hit the bike with such a force that Patanakar was tossed in the air and fell to the ground. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital with grievous head injuries, but was declared dead on arrival, police said. Patanakar was native of Shikaripura in Shimoga district and was residing in Whitefield. <br /><br />He had shifted to the City only six months ago. Airport traffic police have registered a case. The water tanker driver has been arrested.<br /><br />Crushed under wheels<br /><br />In the other accident, a 50-year-old man was crushed under the wheels of a BMTC bus near Malleswaram 18th Cross. <br /><br />B Shamsundar, a resident of T Dasarahalli and a Group ‘D’ employee at Vidhana Soudha, was heading to work when the accident occurred. <br /><br />According to police, the bus bound for Majestic rear-ended the bike Shamsundar was riding. He fell on the road and the bus ran over him killing him on the spot. <br /><br />Malleswaram Traffic police have registered a case and arrested Kumar, the driver of the bus.</p>
