Erring officials to face criminal charges

With new cases surfacing everyday about encroachment of stormwater drain, BBMP Commissioner Bharat Lal Meena on Tuesday had a meeting with all the zonal commissioners where he directed them to start fixing responsibility on the officers who permitted such structures.

Sources in the BBMP said, he ordered them to go through the old records and find out who allowed construction on stormwater drains and other civic amenity sites or who turned a blind eye towards the construction. The BBMP Commissioner directed them to issue notices to all the serving and retired officers within 20 days’ time and subsequently, file criminal cases against them.
