Photography expo attracts visitors

An exhibition on photographs highlighting the culture and traditions of Kodagu was centre of attraction at 80th Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. 

The expo titled ‘Kannada deshi parampare’ displayed 150 photographs. The photographs on coffee, paddy, Kodava marriage, culture, cuisines, Kodava attire, adventure skills have been neatly arranged at the venue. There were 100 photographs on folklore, traditions and farming system of Kannada Nadu. The photographs belong to documentary director Srinivas Murthy, Rani Machaiah and Allaranda Vittal Nanjappa. 

Speaking to Deccan Herald, K M Kalaiah from Mysore said that the photographs have highlighted the traditions of the district. It was a feast for eyes for all those who have come from outside the district.

Siddique from Udupi said “the beauty of Kodagu is captured in these photographs. It was a commendable effort.” 

Stamps

The stamps released by India Post during 2013 was another centre of attraction. There were eight stamps on Swami Vivekananda, Sachin Tendulkar and on his last march, 36 different stamps on Indian soldiers, Sai Baba, Ekalavya, wild flowers and so on. Covers on logo of the sammelana were also on display.
