The mortal remains of renowned Carnatic vocalist R K Srikantan were cremated with full state honours on Thursday at T R Mill crematorium, Chamarajpet. Three rounds of fire were opened as a mark of respect to the departed musician.
Srikantan’s body was kept at the Samsa Open Air Theatre at Ravindra Kalakshetra for public to pay their last respects, for two hours prior to the cremation. Apart from his family, a host of dignitaries including Kannada and Culture Minister Umashree, ISRO Chairman Prof K Radhakrishnan, musicians and artistes were present.
