The heavy traffic movement on the poorly maintained stretch between NGEF Road and Old Madras Road Junction gives pedestrians and motorists the nightmares.

Residents of NGEF area maintain that it takes them nearly 20 to 25 minutes to reach Old Madras Road. “The medians are  provided only for a short length along the stretch. Due to this, motorists use the wrong side of the road, blocking traffic coming from Old Madras Road to NGEF Road,” a resident said, adding ambulances struggle to drive along the stretch to reach their respective destinations.

Shankar H said it takes him half an hour to pass the stretch as it is a two-way lane to reach his office located near Old Madras Road.

There is no proper footpath for pedestrians, he added. While vehicles coming from NGEF go towards Halasuru, BEML Road, K R Puram and surrounding areas, vehicles coming from Old Madras Road go towards Baiyappanahalli, Hoskote, Ramamurthy
Nagar and other neighbouring places.

Residents of Jal Vayu Towers located in NGEF area said the railway crossing on Old Madras Road was in a bad state. “It’s utter confusion that prevails right from the railway line parallel road leading to NGEF junction. The road is narrow and the situation has turned worse after the Metro station came up,” said a resident.

C V Raman Nagar MLA, S Raghu, said: “I had prepared a detailed project report for the construction of a flyover at NGEF junction a year ago. But senior officials said it has to be executed under a single package with other flyover projects that did not happen. I will request Mayor B S Satyanarayana to look into the issue.”

BBMP Commissioner M Laxminarayana said: “We can put up the median and take other necessary steps to ease traffic woes. But to implement them, traffic police officials have to first give their opinion and inputs to us.”
