Bringing out the best

CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT) held a national level fest Cultura on its campus recently. It not only had a slew of technical events but had a fair line-up of cultural programmes as well. The fest did well to bring out the best in students both in terms of their technical knowledge and extracurricular activities.

Besides technical events such as ‘paper presentation’, ‘project exhibition’ and ‘online programming’, the fest also had a host of cultural events like fashion show, rock show, fusion dance and creative arts that did well to entertain the students.

The fest had about 3,000 engineering and management students from across the country participating in various events.

It saw healthy but fierce competition among the students who were more than happy to participate in as many events as possible. It was the experience that mattered more than winning the competition itself.

They felt that the participation had boosted their confidence. Himadri, a student of Christ University who took part in ‘dumb charades’, was thrilled to compete with 22 other teams – all good in their own way.

The maximum crowd was for the dance – both Indian or Western.

Linju, a student of Mount Carmel College, said, “I was thrilled to be able to perform before a huge crowd. The cheering and encouragement from the crowd added to the excitement.”

Apart from the cultural events, there were some interesting sessions on the technical front. Suraj, a student of MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, presented a paper on ‘nanorobotics’. “It’s not always that we get to see so many innovations,” he said.
Avinash, a student of Bangalore Institute of Technology who also designed a robot, said, “These are my baby steps into exploring the world of technology. It was a challenge to learn and design a robot.”

Sakshi Jain, a second-year management student of CMRIT, said, “It is only during fests like these that we get to do something other than our curriculum. The technical events are interesting because we can use the latest technology in an effective
way by investing our time in innovating something.”

The fashion show too attracted a large number of participants.
