Thank God It’s Friday! Scores of young Bangaloreans partied beyond midnight on the first Friday of the month as bars, restaurants and eateries in the City remained open till 1 am.
The government’s decision to extend nightlife in the Garden City, by allowing watering holes to remain open till 1 am during the weekends, came into force on Friday.
Several youths were seen partying at pubs, bars and eateries drinking and dining past midnight in several areas, particularly the upmarket M G Road, Brigade Road, Koramangala, Indiranagar, HSR Layout, Marathalli, Kodigehalli and J P Nagar.
Most of the people who were at these joints past midnight termed the extension as a much needed relief.
“The feeling of spending time past midnight with friends over a drink is something different,” remarked P C Thomas, a techie who was at a pub on Brigade Road.
The owners of bars and restaurants had made enough preparations to ensure supply of food.
Moses, who runs Chungs, a Chinese restaurant near Chandrika junction, said: “All these days, people would knock on our doors past midnight demanding food and liquor. There used to be fights and we would deny. But today it was different. I made good business even past midnight. It was a similar story with some of my friends who run eateries,” he said.
