Sharief pressurised against joining JD(S) by Cong leaders

State JD(S) president and former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy continued to shed tears during political campaigns, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, here, on Monday.

Campaigning for JD(S) candidate from Mandya constituency C S Puttaraju, the former chief minister became emotional while replying to comments made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah regarding the prospects of the JD(S) in the Lok Sabha elections.

“Siddaramaiah had said that the JD(S) will win only one seat in the State. The people of Mandya must help the JD(S) in negating the claims made by CM,” he said, with tears in his eyes.

Claiming that voting for the JD(S) candidate would help Deve Gowda to become the Prime Minister of the country again, he said, the voters should strengthen the prospects by ensuring the victory of the JD(S) candidates across the State.

Mysore challenge

Speaking on Jaffer Sharief continuing with the Congress party, he said, the senior Congress leader had promised to join the JD(S) and contest from Mysore-Kodagu constituency.

“However, he has been pressurised by the Congress high-command to remain in the party. We will take it up as a challenge to win the Lok Sabha constituency,” he said.
