62 students to receive gold medals at RGUHS convocation

As many as 62 candidates of the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) will be awarded gold medals at the annual convocation scheduled to be held on Wednesday

.

Of the 62 gold medals, 45 will be bagged by girls and 17 by boys. In all the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is awarding 87 medals.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, RGUHS V-C K S Sriprakash said the highest number of gold medals will be awarded to Dr Atibhi Goel of Basaveshwara Medical College, Chitradurga, while Dr Abhinaya Venkatakrishnan of M S Ramaiah Medical College, Dr Tasneem Kamalsha from SDM College of Medical Sciences, Dharwad and Dr Pang Yee Rui of Bapuji Dental College, Davanagere will be awarded three gold medals each. 

On the occasion, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences will confer honorary doctorates on seven eminent personalities in the field. 

Eminent personalities

These include Dr R Chandrasekara, former V-C of RGUHS, Dr S Ramananda Shetty, V-C of Nitte University, Dr C Chikkananjappa, former president KMC, Dr Benakappa DG, paediatrician, retired director Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health (IGICH), Dr Vasudev R Pandurangi, Chairman Commonwealth Tri-sector, Preventive Health Care Foundation, Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya Group, Dr Sriganesh, Chairman of Nethradhama Hospital. In addition, 36 candidates will be awarded PhD and 28,559 candidates will be awarded degrees, according to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences registrar (evaluation) Dr S Sacchidanand.
