As you enter Atithi’s Shree Chaats, located in Vyalikaval, you’re welcomed by brothers Sharavana and Jagadish with a warm smile.

The joint, which offers some lip-smacking chaats and samosas, will surely leave you craving for more. The place, which was started four years ago, boasts of its masala puri and pani puri. “We make the masalas ourselves and both the chaats are really fast moving. In fact, we’ve even had minister R Ashoka as a guest here.
He was really impressed with our masala puri,” says Sharavana proudly.

Although the place opens around 5 pm, the preparations begin early in the morning. “We ensure that everything is fresh and we start in the morning. That’s the
routine all seven days of the week,” says Sharavana.

While many customers like various combos, Sharavana says that they are happy to cater to their tastes. “Some like samosa with bhel while some others want cutlets with masala puri and yet another group prefers samosas with masala puri. These are just some of the combinations,” says Sharavana, who used to work with a popular chaat joint before starting this place. Pointing out that their prices are their selling point, Sharavana says, “That’s how we are able to garner so many people.
What we’re looking for here is customer satisfaction. Money is secondary.”

The place has a good number of regulars frequenting it, sometimes even thrice a week. They also have an equal number of passers-by who are drawn to this place by the rich aroma of the spices. “When we have our regular clientele, we just know their preferences — the chaat they prefer and the amount of spice they want,” he smiles, adding, “Many times those who are in a
hurry parcel the chaats.”

Regulars who frequent the place only have good things to say about the snacks. Ajith Simha, an engineer who visits the place at least thrice a week, says, “What I like best here are the aloo puri and samosas. I come here because you don’t get this taste anywhere else.”

Srinidhi Surendra, a BCom student who visits the place, says, “I sometimes bring my friends along as well and we opt for the cutlet chaat. While the chaats are tasty, the place is also hygienic.”

The joint is open between 5 pm and 9.30 pm and is located at 12/21, 11th cross, Vyalikaval. For details, call 9739455190.
