The Centre has sought suggestions from the public on the selection of a new capital for Seemandhra region after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.

An expert committee under K C Sivaramakrishnan, former secretary of Union Urban Development Ministry, was set up last month to study various alternatives regarding the capital for the successor state of Andhra Pradesh.

The public and the organisation have been asked to give suggestions by April 30 on the terms of reference of the committee, a senior official said, adding that they can email their suggestions to feedback.expcomt@mha.gov.in.

The panel has been given time until August 31 to submit its report.Hyderabad will be the joint capital of Telangana and the residuary Andhra Pradesh for 10 years from the setting up of the two states, and in between, a separate capital will be developed for Andhra Pradesh.
