A 22-year-old home-maker, who was six-months’ pregnant, was allegedly murdered by her husband at their residence in Vinayakanagar near Hesarghatta under Soladevanahalli police limits on Tuesday morning.

Madan Kumar, the 26-year-old son of a police head constable, picked a quarrel with his wife Smitha and allegedly strangled her with a rope. He is absconding and a search is on for him, police said.

Classes

“She used to conduct tailoring classes at her residence. The students, who came to attend the class in the morning, found Smitha lying on the floor with blood oozing out of her nose and mouth. They immediately informed the police,” a senior police official said.Smitha was married to Kumar, an employee of a private factory in Peenya 2nd Stage, for two years and six months. Kumar’s father is a head constable with the vigilance squad of the Bangalore Development Authority.

Differences

The couple were in a relationship before getting married. Their families had opposed the marriage as they were from different castes. Later, they convinced their parents and tied the knot. The couple was living independently. It is said that differences cropped up between Smitha’s in-laws and her family members.

The woman’s parents, in a police complaint, have alleged that Kumar and his parents murdered her.
