Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh met top Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders here on Sunday, fuelling speculations on the line of conversation between the saffron party and its mentor.

This comes a day after BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi held a closed-door meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat here apparently to discuss post-poll strategy of the party as over a month-long balloting for the 16th Lok Sabha will come to an end on May 12.

Singh, who was present at Modi’s meeting with Bhagwat on Saturday night, met top RSS leaders including Bhaiyaji Joshi and Sangh’s pointsman with the BJP Suresh Soni at the Sangh’s office here at Jhandewalan.

Rajnath’s meeting with Sangh leaders lasted for nearly two hours. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was not present at the meeting.

While both RSS and the BJP remained tight lipped over what transpired between the Sangh and the saffron party leaders in last two days, sources in the party said, “RSS workers have worked hard at the ground level to ensure victory of the BJP candidates in the elections and Rajnath has come to express his gratitude for this to Sangh.”

They also denied that any post-poll strategy was discussed, saying, “The Sangh does not discuss strategy.”

The Congress, however, used the opportunity to train its guns on both RSS and the BJP, alleging Modi was being dictated by the RSS.
