Various organisations complaint against district surgeon for corruption

When Reddy arrived at the hospital the members all of a sudden stopped him at the door and poured out complaints against the surgeon that he is corrupt and collects thousands of rupees  from disabled , through agents, to issue disability certificates. Those who can not pay are given faulty certificates. Recently when a disabled person question him Srinivasan’s men assaulted him. Srinivasan taken unanimous decision without consulting his colleagues at the hospital.  He got Dr Shivanna who was efficient and popular transferred. He makes the contract workers over-work and does not make new appointments, they alleged.

The deputy commissioner himself had written twice to the government that the district surgeon is inefficient and corrupt and had recommended his transfer but it fell on deaf ears. “He is corrupt and because of him the poor are not able to get any medical facilities”, the protesters alleged.

V Geetha of Janavadi Mahila Sanghatane, Mamatha Reddy of Mahila Jagruthi Vedike,  Shapur gram panchayath member A V Venkataramu, Association for the disabled  leader Somashekhar, JD(S) youth leader Mubarak, former CMC president Afroze Pasha participated in the protest.

Reddy gave a patient hearing to the protesters and said “You leave it to me”.
SI S Y Mohan arrived at the scene and dispersed the crowd.

Even after Reddy entered the hospital the protesters followed him in and demanded immediate action.

Finally the official said he would require time to take action.

Meeting

Later at a meeting held at the hospital auditorium, a power point presentation was made about the problems at the hospital. When questioned by the media the officials refused to make any comment.

Commissioner T N Naik, director Sumera Desai, surgeon Dr Srinivasn, district health officer Dr Ramesh Babu, Dr Y A Narayana Swamy were present at the meeting.
