Ad agency executive shot dead

A 55-year-old advertising agency executive was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne assailants at a market in north west Delhi’s Rani Bagh on Thursday. The motive behind the attack is yet to be established, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Om Prakash, who worked as a marketing executive with a private company at Pitampura. According to police, the incident took place when he was on his way to a bank at Rani Bank at around 1 pm.

“Om Prakash was traveling in an autorickshaw and was going to the bank to submit some cheques,” said a police officer. He had just deboarded the auto-rickshaw at Fauwara Chowk when two men on a motorcycle opened fire at him.

Prakash sustained two gunshot wounds in his chest and collapsed on the ground. “He was rushed to a nearby hospital by the auto-rickshaw driver, but was declared brought dead,” the officer added.

Meanwhile, the attackers managed to flee without being confronted. It is also alleged that they opened fire in the air while leaving the spot.

A case of murder has been registered with Netaji Subhash Place police station.

Investigating officers have ruled out robbery as a motive behind the incident as the attackers did not try to snatch the bag that Prakash was carrying.

His wallet and mobile phone have also been recovered. Police have questioned Prakash’s family and friends, but have not been informed about any personal enmity.

“The attackers are yet to be identified,” the officer added.

Prakash’s body was handed over to family after post-mortem at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Prakash is regularly assigned to visit banks for official purpose.
