25 houses razed in Nayandahalli for flyover

Last Updated 01 July 2014, 20:13 IST

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) on Tuesday demolished 25 houses near Nayandahalli junction, paving way for completion of a flyover on Mysore Road between Gali Anjaneya Temple and Kengeri.

BDA officials supervised the demolition carried out by four earthmovers. The local police had accompanied them to avoid any untoward incident.

But the drive went on peacefully, sources in the BDA said. A top BDA official said work on the flyover would begin immediately.

The project had come to a halt on account of land acquisition issues.

Work on fast pace

But now that all hurdles are cleared, the BDA would speed up the work. Nayandahalli has become a bottleneck as three infrastructure projects are going on simultaneously.

Besides the Metro rail, two flyovers intersecting each other are being constructed by the BDA. The cost of the two flyovers is Rs 85 crore.

While one flyover from BEL Circle towards Sumanahalli has been completed, another flyover on Mysore Road measuring 1.4 km has not been completed yet owing to hurdles in acquisition of private properties.
