Protesters said that elected representatives lack political will to repair the road, which will cut down the distance between Horanadu and Dharmasthala by 70 km. They said that though they have submitted memorandum to almost all the elected representatives of the region, it has not yielded any fruit.

The rally was led by Youth Congress but youth from all parties took part in the protest exhibiting solidarity towards the issue. As many as 60 persons on 30 bikes took part in the rally.

Many of the protesters fell and injured themselves while riding the bikes on 10 km stretch from Yelaneer to Didupe but yet they did not give up and covered their way till Didupe fighting all odds.

Kalasa is 110 kms away from Dharmasthala by the present route but if the said Kalasa-Belthangady route is developed, the distance will be reduced to 56 km. They said that apart from the distance, lot of fuel and time can be saved.
Youth Congress President Anil D’Souza, office bearers Rizwan, Veerendra, Mahesh, Vinayak and others led the rally.
