Four killed as lorry falls into trench

Lorry driver Naseem (50), cleaner Kamlesh (24), Vijayakumar (28) and Amresh, all hailing from Uttar Pradesh, were killed while Gangaram is battling for life in a hospital.  The lorry, belonging to Prakshini Holdings Pvt Ltd, was travelling at a break neck speed near the NICE Junction  when the mishap took place around 9:50 am. A tanker, coming along the same stretch, dashed with it as a result of overspeeding and the lorry fell into the 50 feet trench. The tanker hit a road divider and overturned. Two occupants of the truck were killed on the spot.

The tanker driver and the cleaner fled after the mishap.

Man hangs self

A 28-year-old man committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Bairasandra on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Ramu, a flower vendor.  Police said that he took the extreme step when members of his family had gone to a temple and the reason.

Two killed

A woman was killed on the spot, while her husband sustained injuries when a school bus knocked down their bike on 80 feet road in Chandra Layout on Friday.  The deceased has been identified as Sugandha (59). The accident occurred when a speeding bus coming from behind knocked down the bike while taking a turn.

Sugandha fell towards her right and was run over, while her husband Shivaramappa fell towards left and sustained injuries. The driver sped away with the vehicle, said the police.

In another incident, a 55-year-old person was killed on the spot when he came under the wheels of a running train on Friday night.  The incident occurred near MD block in Malleshwaram when the deceased Harris of Gayatrinagar was trying to cross the tracks.
