Residents living under Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Bangalore South Assembly constituencies got an opportunity to air their grievances during a review meeting of development works at Rajarajeshwari Nagar on Tuesday.

The meeting, chaired by Bangalore Rural Member of Parliament D K Suresh, saw Rajarajeshwari Nagar MLA Munirathna, Bangalore South MLA M Krishnappa, Mayor B S Satyanarayana and corporators of eight wards coming under the constituency, in attendance. Senior BBMP, BWSSB, BDA and BESCOM officials were also present.

The corporators and the residents complained about disappearance of lakes and stormwater drains (SWD) due to rampant encroachments. They also complained about improper garbage disposal, lack of drinking water and poor road infrastructure. Hearing their plea, Suresh directed Palike officials to demolish illegal structures on SWD.The meeting was organised to take note of complaints and suggestions by local residents.

Mayor Satyanarayana said BBMP revenue collection in Rajarajeshwari Nagar was poor and asked Palike officials to beef up the drive. The functioning of stormwater drain division of BBMP came under the scanner where corporators accused Chief Engineer H S Ananthaswamy of being lenient with encroachers.
