A 15-year-old girl, who had come from Bihar in search of work, was allegedly abducted from Jaipur and was later pushed into prostitution.

After six months of confinement in Kota district, the girl managed to escape and reach the nearest police station, where she narrated her plight.

Police registered a case while the girl was produced before the Child Welfare Committee, from where she has been sent to a shelter home.

SHO of Anantpura police station Amar Singh Rathore said police have recorded statements of the girl, on the basis of which a man has been arrested.

According to police, the girl along with her family members had moved to Jaipur from Bihar in search of a job three years ago.

Six months ago, the girl was abducted from Shastri Nagar in Jaipur by some unidentified men. Police said the girl was sold to Gerunath of Kota for Rs 10,000, who kept her confined in a room in his house, for the past six months.

Gerunath wanted to sell the minor girl to someone else, but she managed to flee from there and approached a nearby mosque, asking for help.

Bought for Rs 10,000

“In her statement, she said she was confined in the room for six month by Gerunath, 40, of Kota, who bought her from the abductors for Rs 10,000,” a police official of Kota said.
During this period, she was beaten up, kept unfed for days and was forced to go to hotels for sex trade, he added.

A case has been registered against Gerunath and unidentified abductors under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

“Gerunath has been arrested while search operation has started to nab the other abductors,” a senior police official said.
