Ensure that funds are not misused, says DC

District administration will extend all its support to the Dasara utsav samithi. The expenditure for the Dasara celebrations should be maintained in a transparent manner. The committee should ensure funds are not misused, said Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari.

Speaking at Dasara preparations meeting on Tuesday, he said that two committees with AC and DySP have been constituted to help the sub committees. Dasara is observed grandiosely in Madikeri and Gonikoppa. A stage has to be built for the cultural programmes of Navaratri. CMC, health department, Chescom, horticulture, PWD and Home Guards should work towards the success of Dasara.

The DC directed DHO to ensure that doctors and nurses work in shifts round the clock during the celebrations. As a large number of tourists will visit Raja Seat during Dasara, the work on musical fountain should be accelerated.

DySP Prasanna V Raju said that the police will give priority to movement of traffic, parking of vehicle and safety of people.

Dasara Samithi Working President K M Ganesh said that Karaga Utsav will be flagged off on September 25. Mahila Dasara (Sept 29), Makkala Dasara (Oct 2) and art expo (Oct 4) will be held. The government has already released Rs 75 lakh. A budget of Rs 1.75 crore has been prepared for Dasara celebrations. Dasara cultural committee President H T Anil said that cultural programmes will be inaugurated at Gandhi maidan on September 26. Cultural programmes will be held for nine days from 6 pm to 9.30 pm. Mahila Dasara will be attended by Tara, Anuradha and Vasundhara Das. Harshika Poonacha will inaugurate the Mahila Dasara. Rotary Misty Hills will organise Makkala Dasara. Dasara poets meet committee President Kayapanda Shashi Somayya said the poets meet will be held at Kaveri Kalakshetra on September 30. Actor Srinath will inaugurate the meet. As a part of golden jubilee celebrations of Dasara committee, kit flying, rangoli competitions will be organised, said Dasara committee General Secretary K S Ramesh.
