Justice V Gopal Gowda, heading the Supreme Court bench which is hearing the case of mining related issues in Karnataka, on Tuesday recused himself.
A bench of Justices Gopal Gowda and Adarsha Kumar Goyal was hearing the petition by former chief minister S M Krishna pleading for quashing of Lokayukta police probe into alleged de-reserve of forest by him for mining in Bellary district.
The Lokayukta police probe report also mentioned several mining-related issues, including allowing mining in agriculture land by the then chief minister N Dharam Singh and allegation of taking bribe from a mining company by former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy. The matter will now be posted to another bench of the apex court.
