Jealous lover kills schoolgirl in UP

A one-sided affair claimed the life of class 12 student in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut town.

The minor girl had gone missing on Monday and a report was lodged with the police by her parents, who are teachers at a prestigious college in Meerut town.She had gone to take her tuition classes on Monday evening, but never returned home.

The police had detained the girl’s classmate – son of an affluent trader in the town – on Tuesday.

Though the boy aadmitted that he had murdered the girl and dumped her body a few kilometres away from the town, the policemen did not believe him as the body could not be recovered despite extensive search operations.

The teaching community in Meerut had threatened to go on strike in protest against the failure of the police to trace the girl.

The girl’s body was recovered on Thursday morning from the bushes near the Ganga Canal.

Sources said the girl’s body bore several injury marks.

“It appears that she was strangled to death. Her face appeared to have been hit several times by a screw driver or something like that. An attempt was also made to burn her face with acid,” said an official. 

He told the police that he had an argument with the girl on Monday evening after which he strangled her.

Officials said that the boy was in love with the girl but the latter had spurned his advances. 

He also claimed that the girl had become close to some other boy, who was also a member of their ‘group’, which he did not like.

“I had warned her repeatedly, yet she used to chat with the boy regularly,” he told the police during interrogation.

Police have also recovered the culprits’s blood stained-shirt.
