A legal counsel for Procter and Gamble (P&G) India was allegedly assaulted by three youths outside the Supreme Court gate on Monday afternoon.

The men also threatened him with a knife before attempting to flee from the spot, the complainant told the police.

In his complaint, Shailyamanju Singh told the police  that assaulters were talking among themselves that he should be killed for repeatedly appearing for the legal hearing.
However, Additional Commissioner of Police (New Delhi District) SBS Tyagi told Deccan Herald that the assault was a result of a quarrel he had with the accused sometime ago. “We have arrested the three accused,” he said.

As legal counsel for P&G India, Singh was in Delhi to attend a hearing in the Supreme Court, he told the police.

After the hearing ended at 1 pm, he along with a female colleague proceeded towards their taxi parked outside Gate C of the Supreme Court. “As I was about to close the door (of the car), I saw three men running towards me from across the road. Before I could react, they forcefully opened the door and started attacking me with fists, blows and kicks…,” he stated in the first information report, a copy of which is with Deccan Herald .

One of the men allegedly pulled out a knife and told his companions that the counsel was to be eliminated. Singh claims to have sustained injuries to his hand and lips and suspected that the intention was to murder him.

The accused noticed several people around and suddenly shut the door of the car and fled. Two of them allegedly ran in one direction and the third in an another direction.
Singh claims to have chased  and caught one of them some distance away. A police team brought Singh and the nabbed suspect to Tilak Marg police station.

Around the same time, some people brought two others whom they alleged to be involved in the assault. All the three are residents of rural areas of south Delhi.
