Just days after world number 10 David Ferrer pulled out of the inaugural Champions Tennis League owing to health issues, the organisers of the Vijay Amritraj-found league on Tuesday announced that the Spaniard will be replaced by Leander Paes.

Paes will feature for Punjab Marshalls in the tournament which starts on November 17.

“I am very happy to be a part of Champions Tennis League 2014 playing for the Punjab Marshalls,” Paes said.

"I am looking forward to a very competitive and challenging league format that will bring some of the best international tennis to different parts of the country. I look forward to playing with Somdev (Devvarman), Garbine (Muguruza) and Greg (Rusedski), and together, I believe we will be a strong contender for the title,” he added.
