The 2014 season has been a memorable one so far for Gaurav Gill, who has won three of the four races in the Indian National Rally Championship.

Though he slipped up at Sriperumbudur, finishing second behind Samir Thapar and Gurinder Mann, the Delhi driver looks ready for a new challenge at the K-1000. As the 31-year-old Gill gears up to hit the track, he spoke to Deccan Herald about his chances. Excerpts:

On the season so far: It has been a good season so far. Three wins out of four says it all. But I don’t think it is time for us to relax yet. This race is very crucial and we will look to win it.

On the team strategy: Though a third place finish is enough for us to seal the season, we won’t be going into the race with that thought. We want to win and win it in style. We have learned from the mistakes that we have committed in the previous races and are confident of a good show here.

On the circuit: The circuit looks very tricky and exciting at the same time, and that is something I love. It will be a test for me and also for my navigator (Musa Sherif) and I am sure we will do well. If it was not for the difficulty level involved in such races, I could have started racing on laid tracks by now.
