Homemaker strangled

A 38-year-old homemaker, Vijaya Lakshmi, was found strangled at her home in HMT Layout I Block under the Vidyaranyapura police limits on Thursday.

The incident came to light around 3 pm when her son returned from school and found her lying on the bed with a towel tied around her neck. Assuming his mother was asleep, he tried to wake her up. But when she did not respond, he alerted the neighbours who found her dead and called the police and her husband.

The police found that there was no forceful entry and someone known to her might have committed the murder. A gold chain was missing but the rest of the valuables were intact.
The neighbours told the police that Lakshmi never entertained strangers or salesmen and spoke only to people she was familiar with.

She has two children aged 5 and 10. Her husband is an assistant engineer with PWD in Devanahalli. The incident occurred when the children were in school and the husband at work, police said.
