Congress president Sonia Gandhi, who was admitted to a private hospital here to treat a respiratory ailment, was “stable and recovering well”.
The 68-year-old has been under the care of senior doctor Arup Kumar Basu at Sir Gangaram Hospital here since Thursday evening, after she complained of difficulty in breathing. “Her condition is stable and she is recovering well,” said hospital chairman Ajay Swaroop in a statement.
Doctors said lower-respiratory-tract infections are quite common during winter, especially in patients having a history of the ailment. Gandhi had a hectic campaign schedule that took her to dusty villages in Jharkhand and Jammu & Kashmir over the past month.
