Youth fires in air, cooks up robbery story

The owner of a software company in Koramangala fired in the air after a tussle with his two friends, near Inner Ring Road, Domlur on Friday night.

The incident came to light when the traffic police, who were checking for drink and drive cases, heard a gunshot. According to police, when the traffic cops rushed to the spot, they found three drunken youth - Rajiv Rajan, owner of a software company in Koramangala, Sandeep and Anish Kumar. Rajan had a revolver in his hand. The trio told that Rajan opened fire in the air after some miscreants tried to loot their valuables. However, the police found something fishy in their version and questioned the three intensely. 

A senior police officer said that the three gave different statements and it then came to light the trio had fought among themselves and Rajan opened fire to calm the others down.

“ The police have registered a complaint and are examining CCTV footages obtained from nearby establishments to ascertain whether there was a robbery attempt or not,” the officer said.
