The BBMP on Friday told the High Court that it has set up dry waste collection centres in all the wards in the City.

The civic agency submitted its status report on garbage disposal to the court.

BBMP Special Commissioner (Solid Waste Management) Darpan Jain informed the court that the Palike was yet to decide on paying incentives to those who collect dry waste.

A division bench comprising Justices N Kumar and B V Nagarathna is hearing a batch of petitions pertaining to garbage disposal in the City.

The bench suggested the Palike to give advertisement in the media inviting persons interested in purchasing dry waste.

With regard to dumping of animal waste near Mavallipura leading to bird menace near Yelahanka Air station, the bench directed the local deputy commissioner to take action against those dumping the waste.

Referring to encroachment of land meant for setting up waste processing unit at Ramohalli on Mysuru Road, the bench said that illegal occupants of the land must be evicted. The  bench also heard complaints about alleged illegal disposal of garbage in Tumakuru. The matter was adjourned to February 13.
