5 to be felicitated on R-Day

District administration gears up for grand celebration

The decision was taken at a meeting held on Thursday, presided by deputy commissioner N Prabhakar. It was also decided to shortlist achievers in the fields of social service, education, health, culture and government service  and submit the same to the deputy commissioner.

“On Jan 26 exactly at 9 am the flag will be hoisted. All government office buildings, other important buildings must be illuminated. PUblic are appealed to decorate and illuminate their houses”, the deputy commissioner said.

Separate sub-committees were formed like parade committee, reception committee, cultural committee, felicitation committee, for smooth execution of plans. 

At the parade police department, NCC, Bharath Scouts and Guides,Seva Dal, school students  and five bands will participate. Only five troupes will be selected to present cultural performances. In the evening from 5 pm, around 30 troupes will perform cultural programmes at the T Chennaiah Auditorium.

The deputy director of Public Education Department Prahlad Gowda said “ 400 students will dance for the song ‘Sare jahan se achcha’ and 300 students will perform for ‘Negila Yogi’. Around 1300 students will perform dumbles exercise and 600 students will present group dance.”

He appealed to public, NGOs, and officials of various organisations to participate in the celebrations.

ZP CEO G V Rangarao, in charge district SP Phanindra Singh, R S Peddappaiah, tahsildar Manjula, Kannada and Culture assistant director B S Venkatachalapathi, district contagious deceases  surveillance office Dr Narayana Swamy, TMC Commissioner Ramadas, Deva Sahayam from Nehru Yuva Kendra, Narasimhaiah from Youth Services and Sports Department, Commadant Mariswamy from Home Guards and representtaives of various organisations were present at the meeting.
