CM to attend Niti Ayog meeting in Delhi

Last Updated 04 February 2015, 20:48 IST

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to attend the first governing council meeting of Niti Ayog convened by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on February 8.

He is scheduled to leave for Delhi on February 7 evening. Siddaramaiah had opposed the Centre’s decision to constitute Niti Ayog, replacing the Planning Commission of India.

Sources in the Congress said Siddaramaiah was likely to meet the party high command during his Delhi visit to discuss Excise Minister Satish Jarkiholi’s demand for a change of portfolio.

The minister had recently submitted his resignation. The Chief Minister managed to convince him to withdraw the resignation letter, assuring that he would look into the demand after the Legislature session.

State Congress chief G Parameshwara is unlikely to accompany Siddaramaiah as he will be touring the State to oversee the party’s membership campaign, the sources said.
