Rider killed as KSRTC bus hits motorbike; triggers tense moments

Patient injured as ambulance topples

Adding to the increasing cases of fatal mishaps in the recent days, a 34-year-old two-wheeler rider was killed on the spot, after a KSRTC bus hit his motorcycle near Bannimantapa on Mysuru-Bengaluru road, here on Tuesday.

K R Ramesh, son of Rachachari, a native of K M Doddi, Maddur taluk in Mandya district is the deceased. He was working as the representative of veterinary products of a reputed company, in Mysuru and Mandya districts.
According to N R Traffic police, Ramesh who had gone to Ballenahalli near Srirangapatna on some work, was returning to the city, when the Bengaluru bound bus from Mysuru brushed past him in front of the main gate of Organisation for the Development of People (ODP) in Bannimantap.

As a result, Ramesh lost control over the vehicle and fell off from the same, which resulted in severe head and other bodily injuries.

He succumbed to the injuries subsequently.
Following the incident, the angry passersby rushed towards the bus forcing the driver and passengers to run for safety.

The mob turned their fury on the bus and stoned it, damaging the windscreen and also the window glasses.

As a precautionary measure, a posse of policemen from N R sub-division were dispatched to the mishap spot, while the jurisdictional N R Traffic police shifted the body to the mortuary attached to MMC and RI for autopsy.

KSRTC, Divisional Controller (rural) Mahesh told Deccan Herald, an ex-gratia cheque for Rs 15,000 was handed over to his family, while the remaining Rs 35,000 will be given later. A case has been registered.
Ambulance topples
In another mishap, a 59-year-old man suffered injuries after the ambulance in which he was being shifted to a hospital, toppled near the Jayanagar railway overbridge here on Tuesday. Parashivaiah, the Assistant Agricultural Officer at Command Area Development Authority (CADA) office and a resident of Hanchya Sathagalli is that person.

Parashivaiah who was suffering from respiratory related problems in the morning, was being shifted to Apollo BGS Hospitals in Kuvempunagar, in an ambulance belonging to Columbia Asia Hospital. The ambulance was hit by a goods tempo near the bridge causing the mishap. Parashivaiah suffered head injuries, while his daughter Netravathi and driver escaped unhurt. The tempo driver has been identified as Chikkasubbaiah. K R Traffic police have registered a case.
