Reaching the masses

The normally suave Akshay Kumar will be seen playing a common man in Priyadarshan’s Khatta Meetha. Reveals a source, “Khatta Meetha is a satire based on the road-mafia prevalent in Bihar and parts of UP. Based on a true incident, this film unveils the charade of the common man.” Akshay’s banner Hari Om Productions will be producing Khatta Meetha.

Akshay Kumar, who is as well-known for his comedy as much as he is for his stunt performances, seemed to be the apt person to play a comic common man much on the lines of the famous cartoon character created by R K Laxman.

The star has had a great 2009, with blockbuster films, the highest honour of a Katana, and of course being the Indian Ambassador for the Olympics. Akshay Kumar till date is probably the only star in Bollywood to do justice to both his passions — films and sports.
