JD(S) Councillor alleges corruption in CMC

JD(S) Councillor H S Anil Kumar levelled allegations against Congress and BJP members and CMC Commissioner for the rampant corruption in the City Municipal Council.

Addressing a press meet, in Hassan, on Monday, he said, the Congress and BJP councillors walked out of the CMC general meeting held recently, declaring that they endorse all the subjects, fearing that their irregularities would be exposed.

He also levelled allegations against the government for conniving with the CMC and keeping the JD(S) away from the power, though it enjoys a majority in the Council.

The CMC is involved in misappropriation of funds amounting to lakhs of rupees. As the general meeting does not provide an opportunity to discuss the issues, the JD(S) is ready to discuss them on any platform, he said.

“District in-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa and MLA A Manju have forced the Police department to file an FIR against me. All the documents are being collected and a complaint would be lodged with the Lokayukta soon,” Anil Kumar said.

Anil’s major allegation was against Assistant Engineer Praveen, who, he said, is being protected by Congress councillors.

Funds are being misused in the name of cleaning tanks, purchase of cleaning agents and others by producing fake bills.

Though all the issues have been brought to the notice of the Commissioner Krishnamurthy, he is acting as a Congress agent, Anil Kumar alleged.
