Defending champs Kaliyanda walks out over 'poor' decision

Koothanda, Kongetira, Mandetira, Chendanda, Mukkatira (Bondha), Muruvanda, Mandepanda, Anjaparavanda, Kademada, Nellamakkada, Bovveriyanda and Padeyanda teams won the matches as a part of Kuppanda Cup Hockey tournament at Junior College Grounds on Sunday.

In a match, Chenanda team defeated current champion Kaliyanda by 1-0. In the second half, Kaliyanda opposed the decision given by the umpire and walked out from the ground. Hence, Chenanda was declared victorious.

Former champion Koothanda won against Chendira by 5-1. Kongetira defeated Maccharanda by 2-1. In a tie-breaker match, Mandetira won against Pemmanda by 4-3. During the fixed duration match, the teams had scored 1-1.  

Bovverianda beat Kolera by 2-0 while Mukkatira team defeated Machimanda team by 3-0. Muruvanda won against Alamengada, by 1-0, with the lone scored by Annaiah. Mandepanda team beat Ainanda team by 2-0.

In a match held in Ground-2, former champion Anjaparavanda beat Cheppudira by a goal. Deepak Thammaiah was the goal striker from the winning team. In a tie-breaker, Kademada team defeated Theethamada by 5-3 goals. During the fixed duration match, both the teams were equal by 1-1.

Nellamakkada team won against Pucchimada by 3--0 and entered the next round. Bovveriyanda defeated Karineravanda by 1-0. Somaiah fetched the goal for the winning team. Someyanda team beat Karotira team by 4-0. Chendanda won against Kokkanda by 2-1 and progressed towards the next round. Pandeyanda beat Kindyolanda by a single goal, with a goal secured by Ponnannda.
