Barnita Mondal from Bangalore, the daughter of an auto-rickshaw driver in the city, beat all odds to secure 95 per cent.

A PCMB student of Vijaya Pre-university College, Barnita is a self-taught success.
“I did not take tuitions because I could not afford them. Moreover, I never liked the idea of taking extra classes. I like to study on my own,” she said. Burning the midnight oil paid off. Her hard work secured her a score of 570 out of 600.

“My target was to score above 90 per cent. I am very happy that I crossed it and got 95 per cent,” she said, content with her performance.

Barnita lives in Kasturba Nagar with her father, Tarun Mondal and her mother Bandana, a homemaker.

“My parents knew I would do well, but they did not expect such a good score”.
Barnita is assisted by NGO Samriddhi Trust, which provides financial aid to those in need. The NGO has been a great support, paying half her college fee. Her higher studies will also be partially funded by them, she said.

“My teachers were very supportive. I did not take any CET coaching, so I used to go to them to get all doubts clarified”. An engineering aspirant, Barnita has written the Common Entrance Test and COMED-K exam. She wants to pursue BE in Electronics and Communication.

“I wanted to make my parents proud and I did that, in spite of my difficulties,” said a jubilant Barnita.
