JOIN USRanga Reddy district police on Saturday arrested a father who raped and killed his minor daughter on Thursday and tried passing off the crime as a gang-rape-murder by a bunch of auto drivers.
Police said Mekawat Kamal, a resident of the tribal hamlet Izrachittampalli Tanda, lodged a complaint at Bantwaram police station that a group of drunken auto drivers struck him with a bolder and abducted his nine-year-old daughter when he escorted her from his brother Ramulu’s house at Chandanagar here.
The girl’s body was found a few kilometres from the abduction site. But police grew suspicious as the wound on his head was not severe enough to knock him unconscious.
Ranga Reddy District Superintendent of Police Srinivas said Kamal confessed that he raped his daughter and crushed her head with a bolder. Police scanned hundreds of auto drivers operated in the area and checked mobile phone records. Dubbing the incident an example of the strangest of human relationships, child protection organisation Balala Hakkula Sangham demanded death penalty for the guilty father. “
