<p>Addressing media persons here on Thursday, DSS office-bearer Nirmal Kumar said “a casteist group in the university is trying to tarnish the image of the talented and disciplined Dalit lecturer”.<br /><br />“Since the university has not taken any action against the protesting students, it has been proved that the university administration is also a part of the plot against the lecturer,” Kumar alleged.<br /><br />He urged that the Syndicate meeting scheduled to be held on January 23 (where the varsity intends to take a decision on the lecturer) should be cancelled.<br /><br />If the students do not withdraw from the protest and the varsity do not take action against them, the DSS and other like-minded organisations will stage a counter protest in front of the university, he warned.</p>
