Addressing media persons here on Thursday, DSS office-bearer Nirmal Kumar said “a casteist group in the university is trying to tarnish the image of the talented and disciplined Dalit lecturer”.
“Since the university has not taken any action against the protesting students, it has been proved that the university administration is also a part of the plot against the lecturer,” Kumar alleged.
He urged that the Syndicate meeting scheduled to be held on January 23 (where the varsity intends to take a decision on the lecturer) should be cancelled.
If the students do not withdraw from the protest and the varsity do not take action against them, the DSS and other like-minded organisations will stage a counter protest in front of the university, he warned.
