JOIN USIt was an event to behold as over two dozen models lined up at Chowdiah Memorial Hall recently to put their best foot forward. The contestants fought for the title of ‘Prince’ and ‘Princess’ of South India.
Organised by Silver Star Modelling Agency, the competition was a raucous affair as each model was cheered on by the crowd. Although the models tried their best to walk the ramp, and put in their all, only five contestants were chosen for the final round. It was an event of glitz and glamour, with the best of the best trying to make their way through the modelling world.
The categories were divided on the basis of gender and the men showcased their walk first. They were judged for their walk, poise, charm, grace, hair and more. The first round had the men walking in white tops and denim; the casual round was indeed a sight as each one tried to outsmart the other.
The next round saw the women walk the stage with bright red dress; from gowns to party and short dresses, they showcased it all. The next round for the men was a formal one, where they showcased their most charming side in suits, blazers, shirts and more. This was a favourite with the crowd, along with the women’s collection of ‘ghagras’. Long, flowing ‘lehengas’ of multiple shades decorated the stage and each one walked with ease in their heels.
There was also a dance show for the audience where a troupe of men and women danced to various popular songs. The group performed two dances; one was to Bollywood songs and the other was to remixes and EDM numbers. Their flexibility was worth the watch.
It was an entertaining show as children as young as three and four walked the ramp. The kids were more confident than any of the contestants and were pleased to be in the spotlight. Some of them danced, while the others sang, along with walking the ramp. Overall, the evening was a refreshing one as talented shined bright amongst the youngsters and aspiring models.
