Heavy rains in Hosapete, Belur

Heavy rains lashed Hosapete and Belur on Friday afternoon, while Malnad region received intermittent rainfall.

Hosapete
Hosapete received heavy rainfall for over an hour late on Friday afternoon, bringing much needed respite from the heat of the past few days.

Several roads in the town were waterlogged and low-lying areas were flooded. Drains were overflowing other places. Several villages around the taluk received rainfall and the skies remained cloudy.

Belur
Heavy rains lashed Belur and surrounding areas on Friday afternoon. Without rains over the last one month, crops were dying when it finally poured.It had rained continuously in the last 12 days of June, but there was no rain throughout July. There were a few drizzles once in a while, but they were of no use to farmers. Friday’s rain brought some respite to the dying crops.

Shivamogga
Though intermittent rains lashed Malnad region, on Friday, the intensity was less when compared to the last few days.

The inflow of water was 16,958 cusecs and the outflow was 2,317 cusecs. Water level in Bhadra dam rose to 165.9 feet against the maximum level of 186 feet as catchment area received rain fall of 8 mm.
