JOIN USThe cleaner of a truck died on the spot and its driver suffered injuries when their vehicle rear-ended another truck on Nice Road in Hulimavu early Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Azhagu Mutthu alias Selva, 35, a resident of Namakal in Tamil Nadu. The injured driver, Mutthuraj, is being treated at a hospital, said the police.
The accident occurred at around 3 am near Pillaganahalli bridge on Nice Road.
Mutthuraj and Selva were returning after delivering chicken at Nelamangala and were heading towards Tamil Nadu. Mutthuraj failed to notice the truck moving in the front towards Electronics City and rear-ended it. Selva was crushed between the two vehicles and died instantly. Mutthuraj suffered a broken left leg, said the police.
The driver of the other truck drove away without stopping. A few local residents alerted the Nice staff at the toll gate about the accident, who in turn informed the police.
Mutthuraj was rushed to a nearby hospital and Selva’s body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for postmortem.
