Cash stash: CID submits report to State govt

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday submitted a report to the State government on the seizures made at an apartment reportedly connected to 1990 batch IAS officer Kapil Mohan.

Sources said the report stated that the Income Tax Department is probing further on the seizures made at sixth-floor flat of Maple Block at Golden Grand properties in Yeshwanthpur.

The report said that the apartment was searched based on a credible information provided by two bookies arrested in Hubballi in connection with the cricket betting case. During the search, the CID officials, along with Income Tax Department officials found Rs 4.37 crore in cash, gold and diamonds weighing two kgs and several property documents.

“The seized documents did have names of Kapil Mohan’s wife Dr Ruchi Saxena, his father Naresh Mohan, another person by name Mithlesh Saxena and a firm namely PSK Finance Solutions Private Limited. There were also bills and receipts for the investment of gold and money with various other firms in which Mithlesh and Naresh Mohan are directors. The report also stated that further probe into the seizures and source of cash and gold found had been taken up by the IT department,” a source said.

Sources said that Naresh Mohan is one of the directors of PSK Finance Solutions Private Limited, a company that was registered on April 24, 2012. The address of  this company is – U-36, Ground Floor, Upadhya Block, Shakarpur, New Delhi.

Kapil Mohan is presently Principal Secretary to Youth Empowerment and Sports department. Meanwhile, sources also said that the IT department has also sent a report pertaining to the seizures made at the apartment and the subsequent searches at the other premises. Sources said that the IT officials had conducted searches at the other premises pertaining to the companies in which Naresh Mohan is the director.
