2 held for selling land with forged documents

The Central Crime Branch sleuths have arrested two persons on the charge of selling a piece of land by creating a fake general power of attorney (GPA) and forging other documents pertaining to the property.

The police have revealed the names of the arrested as Anand Kumar and M N Swamy. Nagarajappa, 75, Hema­latha and a few others involved in the fraud are absconding, the police said. According to a complaint filed by Rajashri Harale, the arrested duo, along with Nagarajappa, Hemalatha and a few others, created a fake GPA and other documents of the land belonging to Harale in Sahakara Nagar. They tried to sell the land to various people and even collected the advance amount.

The key accused Kumar of created a bogus GPA stating that Harale had sold the land to Nagarajappa. Based on the  fake GPA, they created documents to show that they have sold the land to Hemalatha and registered it for Rs 50 lakh, said the police. The CCB police are trying to extract more information from the arrested. The actual price of the land is said to be Rs 1.25 crore, added the police. Kodigehalli police have launched a manhunt to nab the other accused who are absconding.
