NNC unhappy over Naga peace framework

Last Updated 23 August 2015, 19:47 IST

Following NSCN(KK) rejection of the NSCN(I-M) peace deal, the Naga National Council (NNC) has questioned the competency of the group’s August 3 deal with the Indian government.

The NNC feels that the deal would go the same way as the 1975 Shillong accord and could further fragment the Nagas and create mistrust among other ethnic groups.

This comes as a setback to NSCN(I-M) which has called for a consultative meeting on August 25. The powerful Sumi Hoho, the apex organisation of the Sumi Naga community, has already pulled out of the meeting.
