JOIN USThird seeded Trisha Hegde laboured to topple top seed Shivani A Pathi 10-21, 21-19, 24-22 and clinch the under-15 gilrs’ singles title at the State Sub-junior ranking badminton tournament on Wednesday.
After being caught wanting in the first set, Trisha put out a gritty performance to clinch the next two sets and triumph in a keenly fought affair.
The third seed then grabbed a double after being paired up with Drithi Yatheesh to beat Ananya Praveen and Medha Shashidharan 17-21, 21-13, 21-13 and triumph in the under-15 girls’ doubles category.
Meanwhile, it was straight forward for top seed Tejas Kallolkar who drubbed Saket CS 21-12, 21-11 to clinch the boys’ under-15 singles trophy.
The boys’ under-15 doubles category was won by Chinmaya Venkatesh and Srikar Rajesh who strolled to a 21-19, 21-8 win over Pruthvi Roy K and Saket. Top seeded Naren S Iyer overcame second seed Vishesh Sharma 21-16, 21-14 in the under-13 boys’ singles final. Tanya Hemanth fought off Kriti Bharadwaj in the under-13 girls’ final, winning 21-16, 17-21, 21-11.
