Sheela claims top honours in discus, javelin; Debsmita wins 100M

Sheela won the gold medal in both discus and javelin throws in the junior girls’ category. Her discus effort of 15.25 metres relegated State-mate Jayalakshamma (15.19) to the second spot.

In javelin, Sheela punched turf at 15.63 metres to finish ahead of another Karnataka athlete, HN Bhagyasree (15.05M).Meanwhile, Kerala clinched gold in the 4x400M relay.

Kerala cut the tape in a time of 5:17.08 while Jharkhand (5:26.08) and Maharashtra (5:43.06) came in second and third place respectively.

Debsmita Paul of Jharkhand cleared the 100M race in 14.07 seconds to claim gold while Mitali S (14.08) came in second and Diyamol MR (14.09) finished third.
